Retirement Hell – BBC Africa Eye documentary

by MOINSBD

BBC Africa Eye goes undercover to expose an ineffective and corrupt pension system in Nigeria, which leaves some elderly people sick and penniless, yet grants some politicians inflated retirement packages.

Reporter Yemisi Adegoke travels to Cross River State to meet ‘Ghost Pensioners’ – elderly people whom the state declared dead and deprived of their pensions. Some of whom are forced to rely on financial support from their relatives and are subjected to dehumanising treatment from the state officials for petitioning for their pensions to be reinstated.

UPDATE: A few days after this investigation went out, pensioner Efika Cletus Lafin sadly died, according to residents in his village.

His pension payments had not been resumed. Read more: bbc.in/3nV4KHV

What for such a documentary? This answer is known to everyone! Just waste of money! So many billions have been poured in Africa with so little results so far, it is so sad. When will people there fight their spoilers?

May God forgive all the thieves. Money stolen is a curse not a blessing. How do u feel when someone else is suffering because of you? Repentance is the only solution.

This is no different in the US. SSI retirement benefits are 70% denied initially. Getting a lawyer specializing in SSI is almost required. Might as well be a bribe. At least there is more honesty in Nigeria.

The awesome citizens society in Africa is the poorest people in the world 🌎 causes of the worthless heartless scum trash president government if the awesome people citizens would overtake them all and run them worthless scum trash law breaking criminals ( president government) out of Beautiful African they would become well off citizens people and African would become a very rich country nation with so much stuff they got that maybe could turn African into one of the most powerful countries nation’s in the world 🌎
But you can’t learn anyone anything that’s to ignorant to be ignorant themselves 😎❤️

Good luck to u all.
Because a young man in your country thinks Americans are rich he stole from me. Look at what u have to look forward too.
I get more in a year than you get in a life time. Hope he helped his family with that money.
