Brexit Crushes British Retirement Dreams in Spain

by MOINSBD

As the EU and Britain try to work out a deal to govern their trade relations after Brexit, the dreams that many British people have of retiring in Spain are being shattered by the new reality – and a whole new set of rules.  For VOA from Sitges, on Spain’s Mediterranean coast, Alfonso Beato has this report narrated by Jonathan Spier.

The entitlement is strong in these two.
They don't like living in the UK so moved to Spain.
So they are immigrants to Spain. Then they complain about people living in the UK voting for leaving the EU.

Hahaha ha

They are Expac's. How dare you compare them to any other group. They are special. Treat them with tender loving care. Remember, they are far superior than any other group and treat them that way.

They are Expats'. How dare you compare them to any other group. They are special. Treat them with tender loving care. Remember, they are far superior than any other group and treat them that way. How cruel, to hold Easter eggs from them! How do you expect them to survive? Outrageous!!

And the problem is? You have to remember the rest of the world out side of the EU have been handling the EU regulation an residency for years with no issue.UK citizens have just got to get use to them. 3rd country let's not forget that due to the UK leaving the EU.

In the driving license: they could have had it the easy way – they could have exchanged it for a Spanish license before Brexit happening. Exchanging one eu license for another because you live there is easy. I also did that with my English license. But true – it helps if you speak the local language…

How hard is it for remoaners to learn the difference between words? They are immigrants/inmigrantes to the native Spanish people. Amongst British people and British communities, they are expatriates – British expats.

I´ve lived and worked in Germany for over 40 years, I would never in my wildest of dreams have voted for Brexit, like every other Brit who had to seek a living wage after Thatcher´s rape of the UK I was gratefull to get a job as a dishwasher, I got the same money as I was getting as a British soldier after 7 years service!
But, so many Spanish/ Brits voted for Brexit and are now seeing how blitheringly stupid they were to vote for Brexit.
Many British ex serivemen living with German wives and children voted for Brexit in some blind flag sh*gging exercise that I can only think that cheap duty free booze rotted their brains!
As some Brits in Spain had only 2nd homes I am glad that they have to sell up, it might mean local kids can afford homes now.
Where I live US citizens have bought second homes that stay empty for most of the year, this is killing any chances of local kids ever buying a home here.
But, as the Russians like to say, Tough Sh*tski to those Brits who scrounged off the Spanish system for so long!
And then voted to leave the EU, can´t get much stupider than that?

Awww poor wee Sun readers? British Immigrants moaning about what they voted for and the end result. How classically? British! Ignorance, arrogance, indifference. All the while living within Europe? Now go and learn Spanish and take a Spanish knowledge test on the country, to allow residency
😂😂👍👍

Let's get one thing straight, ex-pats are 'whites' who have settled in another country who by any other definition are immigrants, but because they don't want to be associated with people who are 'brown' or 'black', they refer to themselves as 'ex-pats'.

Serves them right. Youre either British or youre not. You should have made your minds up. For remoaners theyre odd balls, living in the EU and still expecting those of us who live in the UK and want to live here, also want to be British. you need to make your minds up. Just because you dither about you can hardly expect Britons who want to be British choosing we wanted to be free of EU control. Things wouldnt be so bad if the Eu had not tried to make everything as difficult as possible, including trading and transport of goods. We obviously made the right decision. So now all we need is for our politicians to implement it. Instead of this half out mishmash theyre currently connong the public with. To be fair to the EU the problems are caused by UK Politicians trying to maintain the status quo, at the same time as leaving a little bit..
